Important advice for travellers.
Here are a couple of points that you should consider when looking at travel insurance.

Insure early – as soon as you pay a deposit!

Don’t think that because you aren’t going away for another 6 months that you need not insure until then. Remember, a travel insurance policy will insure you in respect of cancellation of your holiday from the moment you take it out. So if you put a £500 deposit on your family holiday today, and have an accident next week, you will be covered for your lost deposit if you need to cancel the holiday booked for next month.

The EHIC Card

Insurers require that you make provision to minimise the value of any claim, and therefore you should ensure that you hold an European Health Insurance Card for travelling in Europe.

Application For European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

If you are a UK resident, you are entitled to medical treatment that becomes necessary, at reduced cost or sometimes free, when temporarily visiting a European Union (EU) country, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. Only treatment provided under the state scheme is covered. However, to obtain treatment you will need to take a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) with you. Please note: Not all UK residents are covered in Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.
