Both large and small businesses have legal obligations when members of staff become pregnant. The right to maternity leave is given to an expectant mother, but there is little protection for the business itself, until now.
The TLC Business Maternity Insurance policy is designed to help protect a company from the costs of hiring temporary replacement staff during employee’s Statutory Maternity Leave.
A level of benefit can be selected for each female member of staff aged between 17 and 60 to relate to the anticipated cost of replacement staff during a period of statutory maternity leave. This can often be well in excess of the wages paid to the employee, as we acknowledge that hiring temporary staff can be an expensive exercise.
In addition to providing the business with insurance protection in respect of the cost of maternity leave, the insurance policy also offers fixed benefits payable in respect of paternity leave for male members of staff.
